Our Story
An Opportunity Emerges Amidst Maternity Leave
The journey of Little Oink began when Canberra businesswoman Natalie Legg was on maternity leave and saw an opportunity to create something special for the Cook community. She had noticed during her time off with her son a notable absence at the Cook Shops - a local cafe for families and community members nearby. Despite having minimal experience in hospitality, Natalie pushed ahead with a vision to bring a fun, welcoming space for locals.
Why Pigs?
Natalie has always had a fondness for these loveable animals (and a guilty appreciation of pork’s deliciousness). The charm of our quirky décor has grown with us, and our collection of pig figurines — many of them gifts from customers — has become a symbol of the strong connections we’ve built with our regulars in Cook and beyond. If nothing else, it is a bit of fun look around at!
Community Spirit with Local Businesses
We opened with unexpected challenges, but thanks to our long-standing partnership with Two Before Ten, we quickly found our rhythm. Their support on our first day set the tone for the collaborative, community-driven vibe we’ve continued to nurture. Today, we’re proud to serve their locally roasted coffee, and this partnership is still going strong!
We Hope to Serve You Soon!
We’re here to make every visit special. With high-quality ingredients, a warm atmosphere, and our signature pig-themed charm, we hope Little Oink will become your new go-to.
